Iliohypogastric nerve

The ulnar nerve iliohypogastricus is the first part of the lumbar ( lumbar plexus ) of the lumbosacral plexus. It is clear from the first lumbar segments L1 spinal cord in humans also from the 12th thoracic segment ( T12 ). Due to the small extent Plexuscharakters ( no fiber exchange with other spinal cord segments ) do not expect him some authors to the lumbar plexus.

The main trunk of the ulnar iliohypogastricus runs between musculus musculus obliquus internus abdominis and transversus abdominis in towards the belly center. He gives off branches that cascade pierce the abdominal wall layers and thus reach the skin.

The ulnar iliohypogastricus innervated with the nerve ilioinguinal motor the abdominal muscles and sensitive skin of the abdomen.

In mammals, 7 lumbar vertebrae (eg predators ), the first two lumbar nerves are called Nervi iliohypogastrici. One distinguishes a nerve iliohypogastricus cranialis from L1 and a nerve iliohypogastricus caudalis from the segment L2.
