The Ill (in capitals: ILL, from celtic Ilara = piece) is a creek in Illingen Saarland of 29.8 km, in the Theel opens in Bubach - Calmesweiler.

Course

The Ill springs north of Urexweiler and crosses it in a southerly direction. At the river then continue to follow the places Hirzweiler, Hüttigweiler and Wemmetsweiler. There the Ill turns west and reaches Illingen, here turns to the northwest and then flows through Wustweiler and Dirmingen. There she turns back to the west, reached so Eppelborn and Bubach - Calmesweiler and ends shortly thereafter in the Theel.

Renaturation

In 1990, the purpose Illrenaturierung Association was founded, which has now transformed the landscape around the Ill and their tributaries as natural that beaver and many other vanished species could be reintroduced.
