Ilse Friedleben

Ilse Friedleben ( born September 2, 1893 in Frankfurt am Main as Ilse Weihermann; † December 1963 in London) was a German tennis player.

Life

Ilse Friedleben was born in 1893 in Frankfurt am Main. Together with her ​​two sisters, Toni and Anna, she played hockey at SC Frankfurt 1880. Tennis she played against it in the TC Palm Garden. Even before the First World War it was one with her sister Toni Germany's best tennis players.

In the early years of the Weimar Republic reach their greatest successes. She won 1920-1926 six times the German Championships in Hamburg. Only in 1925 they had there their Dauerrivalin Nelly Neppach beaten. With the final defeat in 1927 in Hamburg before 2 500 spectators against the emerging Cecily Aussem the end of their era announced.
