Ilva Ligabue

Ilva Ligabue (* May 23, 1932 in Reggio Emilia; † August 19, 1998 in Palermo) was an Italian soprano.

As the most well-known role of the trained singer in Milan was the role of Alice Ford in the opera " Falstaff " by Giuseppe Verdi. In this role she performed after initial successes in Italy and at the Covent Garden Opera in London, at the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, at the festivals in Glyndebourne, Salzburg, Aix -en- Provence as well as in Tel Aviv, Dallas and Chicago. They also took over the role in two overall for records on, even under Georg Solti for Decca Records and once under Leonard Bernstein for CBS. She also sang inter alia, the "Donna Elvira " in " Don Giovanni " by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
