Ilya Ulyanov

Ilya Nikolayevich Ulyanov (born 19 Julijul / July 31 1831greg in Astrakhan, .. .. † 12 Januarjul / January 24 1886greg in Simbirsk ) was the father of Alexander Ulyanov and Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. He was a math and physics teacher.

Life

Ulyanov came from a poor petty-bourgeois family from Astrakhan. Despite his poverty, he succeeded in 1854 to attend the University of Kazan. Ulyanov taught in Penza and Nizhny Novgorod mathematics and physics at secondary schools. For his many years of service, he was later elevated to the hereditary nobility.

In 1863 he married Maria Alexandrovna Blank. 1869 was Ulyanov on the teaching, was first inspector and later director of the elementary schools of the government of Simbirsk. In the nearly 20 years of activity, the number of schools in the province of Simbirsk increased significantly. He trained many perceived as progressive teachers who were called " Uljanower ".
