Ilyo Voyvoda

Iljo Wojwoda ( Bulgarian Ильо войвода ), born as Ilya Markov Popgeorgiew ( Bulgarian Илия Марков Попгеоргиев; born May 28, 1805 in Berovo, today in Republic of Macedonia, † April 17, 1898 in Kyustendil, Bulgaria ) was a Bulgarian Hajduke, voivode and freedom fighters during the Bulgarian National Revival. He was also known under the name Djado Iljo ( Bulg Дядо Ильо / dt. Grandfather Iljo ). He was member of the Bulgarian Legion (1862 ) in Belgrade and participated in the Serbian -Turkish war in 1876, the Russian - Ottoman War ( 1877-1878 ), at the Kresna - Razlog Uprising ( 1878-1879 ) and as an octogenarian at the Serbian -Bulgarian war of 1885 in part.
