Possjolok imeni Alexandra Kosmodemjanskowo (Russian Посёлок имени Александра Космодемьянского, translated Alexander Kosmodemjanski settlement; until 1946 German Metgethen ) is the Kaporner Heath and is a district of Zentralny rayon ( Zentralrajon ) the Russian city of Kaliningrad. History
The first written mention of the village of Old Prussian Metgethen dates from the year 1278: " in campo qui dicitur Myntegeiten " The name refers to a spiritual leader named Myntete. The Gutsbezirk was assigned to the newly formed district of Königsberg on 1 February 1818 and incorporated in the circuit reorganization in the city of Königsberg on April 1, 1939. In 1820, the city had 29 inhabitants in two houses, in 1885 there were 302 inhabitants and 1933 already 1,946.
In February 1945, during the Battle of Königsberg, the city was the scene of the massacre of Metgethen of German and Ukrainian civilians.
Until 1946, it retained its German name, however, written in Cyrillic letters ( Метгетен ), and was then renamed Lesnoye ( Лесное ).
