Imentet

Amentet or Imentet is an ancient Egyptian goddess of the dead. Since the Old Kingdom she was the personification of the dead, of the West.

Importance

In the mythology of the Ancient Egyptians the afterlife is in the west. Therefore, the necropolis were primarily invested in the west of the Nile nearby mountains. Amentet the goddess of the West is par excellence, so also the Mistress of all lying in the western countries. As goddess of the underworld she receives the entering the Duat dead.
