Immolation (band)

Immolation (Latin, Sacrifice ) is an American death metal band from Yonkers, New York.

Band History

The band Immolation emerged from the defunct New York band Rigor Mortis 1986. The guitarist Robert Vigna and Tom Wilkinson recruited drummer Neal Boback and the bassist and vocalist Ross Dolan. After the band did not receive a contract with Earache Records, the musicians worked their way more for their goals and were eventually signed to Roadracer Records.

Shortly before the recording of the produced by Harris Johns ( Voivod, Kreator ) in Berlin debut album Dawn of Possessions left Boback Immolation. He was replaced by Craig Smilowski. With this lineup the band went on a promotional tour through Europe and the United States. Shortly after the tour, she finished the collaboration with Road Racer Records. Appeared in 1995 on Repulse Records Stepping on Angels ... Style and texts

The style of Immolation is often compared with that of Morbid Angel; Ross Dolan sees the comparison as a compliment, but stresses immolations style and sound differs significantly from the Morbid Angels. The band, however, counts along with Necrophagia and the early works of Death, Sepultura and Possessed to immolations influences.
