Immolation (band)
Immolation (Latin, Sacrifice ) is an American death metal band from Yonkers, New York.
Band History
The band Immolation emerged from the defunct New York band Rigor Mortis 1986. The guitarist Robert Vigna and Tom Wilkinson recruited drummer Neal Boback and the bassist and vocalist Ross Dolan. After the band did not receive a contract with Earache Records, the musicians worked their way more for their goals and were eventually signed to Roadracer Records.
Shortly before the recording of the produced by Harris Johns ( Voivod, Kreator ) in Berlin debut album Dawn of Possessions left Boback Immolation. He was replaced by Craig Smilowski. With this lineup the band went on a promotional tour through Europe and the United States. Shortly after the tour, she finished the collaboration with Road Racer Records. Appeared in 1995 on Repulse Records Stepping on Angels ... Before Dawn, a compilation of the first two demo discs, some live recordings and Rigor Mortis - pieces, In 1996 the band to Metal Blade Records and released the album there, Here in After. After a successful European tour with Decapitated, Soul Demise and Deranged and a contract with Listenable Records 2002 immolations appeared fifth album Unholy Cult, followed by several concerts with Mystic Circle and Deranged, as well as participating in the X - Mas Festival with Kataklysm, Marduk and Dying Fetus. Since immolations drummer Alex Hernandez suffered a hernia, he was replaced by Steve Shalaty.
After published in 2005, according to the Immolation biography with Nuclear Blast " something unusual [n ] ", the sixth album Harnessing Ruin the band went along with Deicide, Skinless and Misery Index on tour, followed by a pause. After several concerts with Exodus and Cryptopsy released in 2007 her eighth album Shadows in the Light. After the release the band played some festivals and toured in the United States with Rotting Christ and Belphegor. In 2010, the album Majesty and Decay appeared over immolations new record company Nuclear Blast.2011 appeared EP Providence, which is available as a free download.
Style and texts
The style of Immolation is often compared with that of Morbid Angel; Ross Dolan sees the comparison as a compliment, but stresses immolations style and sound differs significantly from the Morbid Angels. The band, however, counts along with Necrophagia and the early works of Death, Sepultura and Possessed to immolations influences. Your record label Nuclear Blast, it is one with bands like Incantation, Mortician and Suffocation to the "top of the New York Death Metal scene." The lyrics of the band are marked by anti-Christian content, but go beyond that.
