Reception

Imperfect Harmonies is described by many recipients similarly. The assessments of the album, however, differ greatly depending on the critic.

Some critics are of the opinion Tankian music would have continued to evolve with Imperfect Harmonies from previously known style. So, for example, writes Adrian Meyer of laut.de: "Never seemed SOAD ( or one end of the creative pause) moved further away than after listening to " Imperfect Harmonies In this context, the altered instrumentation is particularly mentioned; ". " especially the orchestra played a much larger role than before.

Most often, the music of the album as "experimental ," describes " articulate" or " bloated". This fact causes both positive and negative reactions. While some critics described the album as " compelling " and "beautiful ", others find it difficult to access, however. Still others specifically mention these contradictions, such as Tom Jurek of allmusic.com:

" Imperfect Harmonies is drenched in seeming contradictions, lyrically, sonically, musically and: [ ... ]. "

" Imperfect harmonies is full of apparent contradictions, lyrically, sonically and musically: [ ... ]. "

Depending on the assessment of the recipient manages Tankian to unite these inconsistencies into a functioning work or fails on its ambitions.
