Imperial Rescript on Education

The Imperial Edict education (Japanese教育 ニ 関 スル 勅語, Kyoiku ni kansuru chokugo, dt "Edict Concerning Education", also briefly教育 敕 语, Kyoiku chokugo, dt "Education Edict ") was on 30 October 1890 by the Meiji tennō adopted. The text presented less of a law in the strict sense is because a well-intentioned policy of Tennō to the Japanese people.

By the edict of gravity of the set up under the Meiji Restoration, the Japanese education system was laid off from the original U.S. style knowledge creation back to a moral training according to Confucian model. This change was a concession to the growing conservative forces in the country and numerous protests in the population.

The edict was sent by the Imperial Hofministerium to all schools in the country. Along with images of the reigning Emperor and Empress, it was the holiest of each school. In some schools in the country, it was kept in a chapel -like house, and on festive occasions, it was read by the school principal.
