In Silico is the second studio album by British- Australian drum and bass band Pendulum. It was published in the German-speaking area on 30 May 2008 by Warner Music Group and is the first album that was released by a major label.
Formation
After the debut album, Hold Your Colour, the band moved to a major label Warner Music. Work on the new album were marked by more influences from other musical genres than the previous album. Initially a single computer beats and themes that were later merged, song and the rest of the instruments were recorded in the studio later. The recordings were made between 2007 to 2008. The album was released on 13 May 2008, in Germany on 30 May 2008.

Chart positions
The album itself was able to place in the album charts in three countries, two countries in which it reached the Top Ten. The successful placement was achieved in the adopted home of the United Kingdom, where it was able to hold onto second place and placing a total of 44 weeks in the charts. The other successes have been recorded in Australia ( 9th place) and New Zealand ( # 21 ).
In the British charts is also three singles were able to place. Propane Nightmares reached # 9, # 29 Granite and The Other Side number 54 of the singles chart.
Reviews
By music critics, the album was recorded mixed.
Very positive about the album manifests itself Mathias Möller Laut.de. He particularly praised the songwriting and the resulting diversity of the songs, especially while he lifts The Tempest and the Showdown forth. As standings, he gives four out of five stars.
With four out of ten possible points Harald Jacob rated the album less positive on Plattentests.de. The main criticism is mentioned here that the pieces would not cause emotions and the mixture between drum and bass and rock music would rarely succeed.
In her review for Allmusic assigns Jo -Ann Greene four out of five stars and thus rated the album positive. She is of the opinion that it Pendulum well create with this album Electronic and rock to reunite.
4.5 stars out of a possible ten points, the album receives from cdstarts.de only an average rating. Critic Albert Ranner thinks that the greater involvement of rock music and the vocals do not guttue the album.
Occurrence in media
Songs from the album were used in various media. So the video racing game Pure used the songs Granite and showdown. The racing game Need for Speed : Undercover used the title granites, 9,000 Miles and The Tempest.
Even in films and television series tracks on the album were used. Excerpts of the song showdown were both in the film Punisher: The stop of the television series CSI War Zone as well as the episode: NY used. The British series EastEnders used the piece Midnight Runner. The song Mutiny was also used for a commercial company munity Wireless.
