In Trousers

In Trousers a musical, whose book, music and lyrics by William Finn is derived.

In Trousers, led by William Finn, was first performed twice. On February 21, 1979 in Off-Broadway Playwrights Horizons for 24 performances and again on December 8 for eight performances. Chip Zien, Alison Fraser, Joanna Green and Mary Testa were in the cast.

On March 26, 1985, a significantly rewritten version with additional songs, a more coherent storyline and sharply delineated figures at the Promenade Theatre was performed where it was played 16 times. Was led production by Matt Casella, Stephen Bogardus played it, Catherine Cox, Sherry Hursey and Kathy Garrick with.

The one-act play focuses on Marvin, who has an ( unnamed ) wife and a son. He announces his previous relationships including his school love, Miss Goldberg, his English teacher, who can play in a school play him, Christopher Columbus, and then reveals that he is gay. Destroy Torn from its natural inclination and his desire not his family life as he knows it, he finally makes the decision that what he feels is best for him.
