In Waves is the fifth studio album by the American thrash metal band Trivium. It was released in Germany on August 5, 2011 via Roadrunner Records. In other countries it was released in the period between 2 August and 9 August 2011.

Formation

The first songs for this album emerged at the end of 2008 and during the tour 2009. During this time she wrote more than 30 songs. From these, they selected 17 to develop this further and optimize. It is the first album on the Nick Augusto, her new husband on drums, was involved. One of the new pieces, In Waves, Trivium on the official website was unveiled on 21 May 2011 already. However, this song was hidden in the code of an ASCII image.

For release of the album played Trivium in 2011 on the " Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival" tour in the United States. This they interrupted however by August 5, the day of the show in Germany, at the Wacken Open Air, and on 6 August, the day of the show in the UK, as a special guest to play Iron Maiden at the O2 Arena in London.

From November to December 2011, was a European tour, with ao five dates in Germany, for the promotion of the album.

Versions

In Waves was published in a limited CD DVD version in a standard CD version as well. The latter includes 5 bonus tracks as Shattering the Skies Above, which was previously published only on the God of War III soundtrack. The DVD includes a documentary recording of the album, a live concert from the Chapman Studios as well as the music video for In Waves.
