Inch Abbey ( Insula Curcii; Iniscourcey; Inis Cumhscraigh ) is a former Cistercian abbey in Northern Ireland in the United Kingdom. She was relatively complete one kilometer north-west of Downpatrick, County Down, between the river and the Quoile marshland between two drumlins.

History

Buildings and plant

The western part of the cruciform church with five nave Jochen is largely destroyed. Parts of the church are renewed in cement. The rectangular choir had three lancet windows and a window above, of which only the lower approach is still preserved, and Lanzettpaare the north and south. The north transept had as probably the more southern destroyed, which opened into a small Armarium, two chapels. In the 15th century, the transepts and nave were separated beyond the first Langhausjochs, probably because the church had become too large. The exam was in the south of the church. The galleries of the cloister are no longer available. In addition to the Armarium were the small chapter house, the narrow parlatorium and the monk room, above it the dormitory. The south wing took on kitchen and refectory. The west side of the cloister takes place of the lay brothers wing on only one end wall. A building southeast of the east wing was probably the hospital.
