Incidental music

Interlude, partly intermezzo (Italian for interlude, literally break; Intermediate also ), in the jargon stage stopgap, called slots or transfers to the artistic media. They are partly independent forms, to the - to the main work contrasting - genre, some only minor compositional and dramaturgical elements. The interludes in music and drama, as well as stage work, poetry and literature, film and storytelling have influenced each other in form and function in art history varied.

Independent forms

  • Intermezzo, phrase, or movement piece in instrumental music.
  • Interlude, interlude, comic insert between the acts of a play.
  • Embolium, Greek εμβόλιον, in the ancient theater mime small form between the acts.
  • Entr'acte, musical interlude for plays, originally simple Madrigals ( entertaining Sing poems), later also purely instrumental.
  • Intermezzo, an interlude in opera, initially, madrigals, later, the ballet takes over this role.
  • Between music, a form which has also been preserved in radio drama and audiobook.
  • Skit is a short radio play- like piece on a music album.

Transferring found that too in the Entremeses, Spanish short pieces that served as a stopgap between meals (from the 13th century).

Transition Saves in a piece of music

  • Interlude (from the Latin inter, between ' and ludus, game' ), musical interlude, generally the transfer of a major part to the next, or the connection of the individual verses ( in song, chant and the like ) by a few bars instrumental movement
  • Refrain or chorus ( which Recurring '), part of a rondo, which recurs several times in the course of this piece of music
  • Bridge (English for bridge ), characteristically about senior molding in jazz, pop and rock
  • Break (English for breakage, interruption), a short slot on the end of a formal section, often at the end of the bridge, in the pop music
