Incomindios Switzerland

Incomindios Switzerland (International Committee for the Indians of America ) is a human rights organization working for the rights of indigenous peoples, in particular the Indians of North, Central and South America, are used.

Incomindios Switzerland was founded in 1974 at the suggestion of representatives of the indigenous resistance organization the International Indian Treaty Council ( IITC ).

Since 2003 the organization has consultative status as an NGO (Cat. II) with the Economic and Social Council ( ECOSOC).

Today Incomindios Switzerland has over 1,000 members. The seat is Zurich.

Activities

Originally Incomindios Switzerland was founded to Indians to gain access to UNWGIP, the Working Group of Indigenous to the UN in Geneva. This task leads today a voluntary working group of still.

Other volunteer work groups campaign for the release of the political prisoner Leonard Peltier, against uranium mining on Indian lands, for strengthening the Indian education and improved infrastructure for communication in South America.
