Independence Day (Pakistan)

Yom -e- Istiqlal ( Urdu یوم استقلال ) is the Independence Day of Pakistan and National holiday. It is celebrated on 14 August, the day gained independence from British rule in the Pakistan.

Independence of Pakistan was officially announced on Thursday, August 14, 1947 at 0:00 clock, but the ceremony started half an hour earlier.

Today, the day is celebrated all over Pakistan. TV stations show special programs throughout the day and also two or three days later and before. According to tradition, the houses with national flags and other items are adorned.
