Independent Greeks

Anexartiti Ellines (abbreviation: Anel, Greek Ανεξάρτητοι Έλληνες, abbreviation ΑΝΕΛ, German: , Independent Greeks ') refers to a Greek right-wing populist party. It was founded on 24 February 2012 by the members of parliament Panos Kammenos, a former member of the New Democracy party. The party opposes the imposed collectively under the pressure of financial crisis austerity policy.

Kammenos, a former deputy minister, had been excluded from the Group of the New Democracy party after he voted in a vote of confidence against the coalition government of Prime Minister Loukas Papademos. In the parliamentary election on 6 May 2012, the party won 10.6% of the vote and went with 33 deputies to the Greek Parliament. In the recent election on 17 June 2012, it reached 7.5 % and remained with 20 seats fourth largest group.
