Indian Ice Hockey Championship

The Indian Hockey League is the highest hockey league in India.

History

Since the 1980s, played hockey in India. Due to the lack of artificial ice, the ice hockey program of the Indian Hockey Federation mainly focused on the northern states and there, especially on the Indian part of the disputed region of Kashmir, where it can be played on natural ice because of the cold climate in winter. Among the founders of hockey in India is stationed on the border with Pakistan Indian army as well as the Border Police participates with their own teams to the national championship. After previously were numerous local tournaments, the national championship was officially first held in 2005 by the Indian Hockey Federation.
