Industrial Records

Industrial Records ( IR) is one of the first British independent music label and namesake of the genre Industrial.

The independent label is in London (later Throbbing Gristle ) emerged in 1975 from the radical art and music project COUM transmission and was registered in January 1977 as a trademark.

History

The four founding members of Industrial Records and Throbbing Gristle Chris Carter, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Peter Christopherson and Genesis P -Orridge published in 1976 forced their recordings on their own, as the established publishers refused to press the aggressive sound collages and sound orgies of the group on vinyl. Under the slogan " Industrial Music for Industrial People" published Throbbing Gristle their concert recordings initially only on simple music cassettes, but it soon managed to build up its own publishing records. The logo of IR showed a stylized chimney of the incinerator at Auschwitz. Industrial Records released 1976-1981 numerous audio and video material: tapes, records, film and video recordings. Besides well-known industrial and avant-garde artists such as SPK, Monte Cazazza, Leather Nun, Clock DVA and Thomas Leer / Robert Rental The label also released recordings of American poet William S. Burroughs, as well as a few more 'traditional ' artists ( Dorothy, Elizabeth Welch). The dissolution of Throbbing Gristle in 1981 was also the end of Industrial Records.

After the label fell over 20 years in a " sleeping beauty ", it was surprising reactivated by the four founding members in 2002: It appeared the digitally remastered CD box 24 hours of TG. Although Throbbing Gristle have now disbanded, the label on the Throbbing Gristle Store sells continue CDs, records and merchandise and DDL offers.
