Ingeniero Juárez

Ingeniero Guillermo Nicasio Juárez or short Ingeniero Juárez is the capital of the department Matacos in Formosa Province in northern Argentina. It is located 400 kilometers from the provincial capital Formosa. In the classification of municipalities in the province it belongs to the municipalities ( municipality ) of the second category.

History

Originally the site was a Jesuit reduction of Matacos. The foundation of the town under the present name was made in connection with the construction of the railway line Formosa - Embarcación. Construction of the line was under the responsibility of the engineer Faure and his deputy Guillermo N. Juarez, after which the place got its name. As a founding date of the place is considered July 21, 1930.

Economy and Tourism

Timber industry and oil production are the pillars of the local economy. The number of employees varies considerably, because working in the oil production significantly decreased with time contracts.
