Injong of Joseon

Injong (* 1515 as I Ho, † 1545 ) was from 1544 until his death in the twelfth king of the Joseon Dynasty of Korea. His father was Jungjong, his mother's name was Jangkyung. As the firstborn, he became crown prince in 1520 and succeeded his father after his death to the throne. His wife was Queen Inseong.

Injong was only a short time in power, however, was very ambitious. He tried to reform the government, which at that time was rampant corruption. Many officials ( especially Yun Won- hyung ) were wary of his actions. Injong but was often ill and died in 1545, only one year after his accession to the throne. After his death, killed Yun Won- hyung Injongs uncle Yun Im, who had tried his wealth and power through their relationship to enlarge king. Injongs successor on the throne of Joseon was Myeongjong.
