Inscription of Abercius
As Aberkiosinschrift a 22 -line, written in ancient Greek inscription on a grave Aberkios of Hierapolis in Phrygia is called. The metrical inscription from the late 2nd century indicated in the form of the Hellenistic Mysteries with symbolic, not understood by the uninitiated expressions Christian teachings and cult secrets.
The two fragments of the inscription are now in the Vatican Museums in Rome. A second inscription from the year 216, in which the original inscription was quoted by the Vita and the bishop of Hierapolis Aberkios this inscription could be completely reconstructed. It is an important example of the early Christianity and religion of great historical importance.
