Institute Polonicus

The European Institute for Culture and Media Officer Polonicus was founded in 2011 and is registered in Belgium, headquartered in Aachen. The Institute Polonicus has the status of a public institution with a higher benefit and whose work is based on Christian and humanistic values ​​of European culture. The main objective of the institution is the organization of the gala event and the award of the annual Polonicus Prize. The aim of the institute is the promotion of European integration and the support of the Polish culture through projects such as: strengthening workshops, symposia, concerts, traveling, cultural events. The Institute also maintains the cooperation of Poland from the EU regions.

Polonicus price

The Polonicus Award is the highest recognition of the European Polonia, an honor for the promotion of dialogue and promotion of Poland in Europe and the world. The inauguration of the price Polonicus found on the day of Polonia on 2 May 2009, during the festival on the border of Belgium, Netherlands and Germany, instead. Since 2010, the award ceremony on the occasion of the European Day of Polonia is organized at the annual gala of the Polonia and performed in the Coronation Hall of Aachen City Hall. The initiator of the award is the jury chairman Wieslaw Lewicki, a longtime activist of the Polish community in Germany and President of the European Institute for Cultural and Media Management and Media Relations Officer for Polonicus.

The basic idea

The basic idea of the price Polonicus is based on the saying we should respect each other, because then we will respect others. Polonicus is addressed to people who build their own social and substantive position with simultaneous deepening of national accents. The price emphasizes the propagator of Polish values ​​and their promotion in Europe. Polonia presents this award to persons who develop the activities of the European Union, operate promoting European integration, or participate in the creation of a positive image of Poland in the world.

Sponsor of the award Polonicus

Among the first sponsors of the price Polonicus included the Congress of the German Polonia and Convention Polish organizations in Germany. Since 2012 the price has assumed a European character and EUWP - European Union of Polish communities - is aufgetretan as a promoter. In the first two editions of the price Polonicus supported the Polish ambassador in Berlin, Marek Pravda, the price personally. Since 2011, took over the Chair of the Senate of the RP, Bogdan Borusewicz, promotion.

The figure Polonicus

The figure Polonicus is a winged, youthful figure. This is made ​​of a cast bronze with a height of 38 cm. The ideas of the figure is Wieslaw Lewicki and the manufacturer is the artist Stanislaw Szroborz, winner of a contest in 2008. Initially, the statuette base is made of bronze, but nowadays marble. On the base of the Institution and the award year is engraved. At the Polonicus figure a certificate is awarded.

Prize-giving

The price is ( European Union of Polish communities) and representatives of Polish organizations that are organized in the EUWP awarded by a five-member jury, consisting of a senator who is the chairman of Polonicus award, a member of the Secretariat of EUWP. The chairman of the Polonicus award may rely jury consultant from Polish organizations in Europe, European authorities and institutions. The panel of jury consultant consists of five persons. The jury awards a prize each in each category and has the right to rescind the award in one or more categories. The prize is awarded via the categories also. Candidates can live in the European Union or work, and a national of a Member State of the European Union. Suggestions for candidates to be submitted by the end of the jury. The names of the winners will be announced at the end of February of each year.

Categories

There are four categories provided.

  • Culture: The Polonicus is awarded in this category for the culture creators or people who deal with the Polish or European culture, promotion of Polish culture and praising the achievements and values ​​of Poland.
  • Polish organization: Excellent are people who organize and revitalize the Polonia life.
  • German - Polish dialogue: the price paid to persons who contribute to the development of cooperation and the Polish- German dialogue and the rapprochement between the two nations.
  • Speedwell " Polonicus ": The prize is awarded for the aperiodic life's work. The candidates in this category may be those who produced concrete results through their activities. It mostly affects the areas of economic, cultural, scientific, political, or social life. The people are distinguished by their activity, initiative and creativity.
