Integrase

Integrase is an enzyme of retroviruses, which is responsible for the integration of viral DNA strands in the chromosomes of the host cell. It is one of three key enzymes of retroviruses. The integrase is a nucleotidyltransferase encoded by the pol gene. It can be split as the endonuclease after reverse transcription, the DNA of the host cell and integrate the HIV genome into the host DNA. HIV integrase, which is particularly well studied, is a 32 kDa protein, which acts as an antigen in release. The HIV integrase is target of therapeutic approaches for the treatment of AIDS by integrase. These include raltegravir (also known as MK- 0518 known) of MSD and GS9137 ( JTK -303 ).
