Intermetatarsal articulations

As Intermetatarsalgelenke ( articulationes intermetatarsales ) refers to the joints between the bases of the metatarsal bones. In humans, four Intermetatarsalgelenke are formed. There are few moving so tight joints ( amphiarthroses ), according to the shape of the joint surfaces to planar joints ( articulationes Planae ). The Intermetatarsalgelenke take a small extent to the tilting movements of the foot ( pronation and supination ) part.

The second and third Intermetatarsalgelenk communicates with the central metatarsocuneiform joint, the fourth to the outer Intermetatarsalgelenk metatarsocuneiform joint.
