International Boxing Association (amateur)

The AIBA ( Association Internationale de Boxe Amateur ) is the world governing body of amateur boxing.

It was founded in 1946 as the successor organization, founded in 1920 FIBA (Fédération Internationale de Boxe Amateur); currently to the World Association have joined 196 national federations and continental associations 5. This also includes the German Boxing Association DBV.

In 2006, the highly controversial 83 -year-old Pakistani Anwar Chowdhry was canceled after 20 years of presidency, his successor is the Taiwanese Chin- Kuo Wu.

The AIBA organizes the amateur box world championships, which take place every two years. In 2010, the AIBA introduced a new league, the World Series of Boxing (WSB) - a global box league in the national teams from around the world competing in five weight classes against each other. The WSB, who have joined nearly 200 organizations, brings together the best Olympic boxers who represent their respective countries.
