History

A group of students decided in 1985 to organize a meeting of physics students from around the world. The first ICPS was held in Hungary in the summer of 1986.

The great success of the conference led to a further ICPS 1987 in Debrecen. There, the call for an umbrella organization for all physics students was loud. On September 12, 1987, the signing of the first Charter of the International Association of Physics Students ( IAPS ) took place. IAPS is a multinational non-profit organization that is completely run by students.

It was agreed to carry out the ICPS annually in a different country. The ICPS 2010 in Graz is the 25th conference of its kind

ICPS 2009

The ICPS 2009 took place in 2009 in Split from 10 to 18 August. A highlight of the ICPS 2009 was a lecture by Nobel Prize winner Klaus von Klitzing. Other guest speakers spoke about superfluidity, radio astronomy and oceanography.
