International Crane Foundation

The International Crane Foundation (ICF ) is a scientific organization dedicated to the research and protection of the 15 crane species is dedicated to. Its headquarters is in Baraboo, Wisconsin, United States.

One of the aims of the ICF is to build up a seed bank for cranes to the factors that determine their population decline, are eliminated. Cranes suffer especially at the decline of their habitat, which consists mainly of wetlands.

Similar to the British Wildfowl Trust, the ICF has launched a program to breed cranes in captivity. The first breeding success of black-necked cranes and Brolgakranichen in the U.S. are due to the ICF. Moreover, it belongs to the program of the ICF, nature reserves to establish where cranes are located.
