International Double Reed Society

The International Double Reed Society ( IDRS ) is a worldwide organization based in Finksburg, Maryland. It was founded in 1971 and represents the interests of musicians and instrument makers of double-reed instruments (oboe and bassoon). It has 4,400 members in 56 countries. Every year it is addressed conferences and competitions from (among others since 1979 with prize money of $ 10,000 Fernand Gillet - Hugo Fox competition). The company also publishes the journal The Double Reed.
