International Genetically Engineered Machine

The International Genetically Engineered Machine ( iGEM ) competition is an international competition for students in the field of synthetic biology. He has been held since 2003 by the iGEM Foundation, where until 2014 the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT ) has served as the venue in Cambridge.

Terms and Conditions

Competition

The competition takes place at the universities of the teams primary. The MIT is no laboratory or consumables available. The teams worked after completion of registration and receipt of biobricks over the summer at their universities. The final presentation of the results and the awarding of the medals will be in the fall at MIT in Boston. 2010 have been reported 126 international teams. Since 2011, there are continental preliminaries from which the teams are determined to travel to the finals to Boston.

Prices

There is usually win bronze, silver and gold medals in over 20 categories. The competition does not offer any kind or in cash prizes. It is necessary to enforce policies and to participate in the ceremonies of the medals can for each type of coin.
