International Geodetic Student Organisation

The International Geodetic Student Organisation ( IGSO ) is a politically neutral, independent and non-profit association of students of geodesy and young surveyors.

Objectives

The objectives of the IGSO are:

  • Merge the associations and organizations of Geodesy students of all countries for the mutual exchange of
  • To represent Geodesy students towards the public
  • Build connections between the individual member associations
  • To disseminate information about the current social conditions under geodesy students in different countries to achieve improvements
  • To strengthen the good relations to the respective universities and partner organizations as well as cultural exchanges between different countries

These objectives are the International Geodetic Students Meeting ( IGSM ), and while held General Assembly (General Assembly) organized and implemented.

Structure

The members of the IGSO are geodesy student councils and student organizations of the respective universities and colleges.

The IGSO consists of three organs:

  • The General Assembly (General Assembly)
  • The Executive Board (International Geodetic Students Agency: the General Secretary, the Treasurer, and the Actuary )
  • To the Auditors (the auditors of account ).

The structure of the IGSO and the realization of the IGSMs 2004 was presented at the ISPRS Conference 2006.

Meetings and activities

Every year the International Geodetic Students IGSO a Meeting ( IGSM ). These meetings provide students with the opportunity to share experiences with each other. Since the meetings take place every year in a different country, they also offer the opportunity to learn new cultures and habits.

History

The first IGSM was organized in the Netherlands by the geodesy students of the TU Delft. The IGSO was founded during the fourth IGSM in Graz, Austria.

Partner organizations

The IGSO is a partner organization of the worldwide umbrella organization of the International Federation of Surveyors Géomètres ( FIG).

The Conference of Geodesy students of German universities ( KonGeoS ) represents geodesy students from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
