International Institute for Management Development

IMD - International Institute for Management Development is a private business school in Lausanne ( Switzerland ), which emerged in 1990 from the merger of two existing business schools. The predecessors were founded by companies primarily for the training of their own executive junior schools, which was founded in 1946 by Alcan in Geneva IMI and in 1957 by Nestlé launched IMEDE in Lausanne.

The IMD is EQUIS certified.

Study programs

The college offers over 20 open courses in various fields of management for leaders at every career stage, a 11- month Master of Business Administration (MBA ) and an Executive MBA program (EMBA ) program, which focuses on 16 months or more may extend years. In addition, in partnership programs tailor-made courses to be set up in collaboration with companies for their families.

Research Center

In addition to teaching at the college and their advisory activities in the economy, the faculty of IMD also conduct research on current issues of global economic processes.

IMD World Competitiveness Center (WCC )

The IMD World Competitiveness Center has dedicated itself since 1989, the study of global competitiveness and publishes the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook with an international comparison of competitiveness of economies. It also published on länder-/regionenspezifischer competitiveness and organizes workshops on competitiveness.

Center for Corporate Sustainability Management ( CSM)

The CSM advises companies on their way to a more sustainable form of strategic action on environmental and social level in order to secure the clients a sustainable business advantage.

IMD Family Business Center

Special for the needs of family businesses are developed training programs that are published in research reports, case studies, books and articles. The IMD - LO Global Family Business Award is awarded once a year to a global family, to celebrate its Best Practice.
