International Organisation of Employers

The International Organisation of Employers ( IOS) was established in 1920. She is an international employers' organization and represents the interests of private companies in the design of labor and social policy. Seat of the NGO is in Geneva. In the spring of 2013, it had 150 national employers' organizations from 143 countries as members. The German member of the organization is the Confederation of German Employers' Associations ( BDA), the Austrian member the Federation of Austrian Industry (IV) and from Switzerland is the Union Patronale Suisse ( UPS ) involved.

History

The organization was founded in March 1920 under the name International Organisation of Industrial Employers ( IOIE ) in London. The first General Assembly was held in Brussels in October 1920. The first members of the Association were in addition to several local organizations, the national employers' organizations from Belgium, France, the United Kingdom ( Federation of British Industries ), Italy ( Confindustria ), Spain and Latin America. Secretary General of the Association is the New Zealander Brent Wilton since 2012; he was followed by Antonio Peñalosa, who had led the organization 13 years.

Activities and members

The tasks of the IOS is the creation of favorable conditions for success-oriented and social entrepreneurship in stable markets. These are policy makers influenced and informed to the arguments of the public employer.

The IOE serves as secretariat of the employer Commission of the International Labour Organisation ( ILO), the United Nations and participates as one of the three negotiating parties participated in the International Labour Conference. In addition, the association at international conferences, such as the meeting of the G20, involved; He often cooperates with the Business and Industry Advisory Committee of the OECD.
