International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers
The International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers was an artists' association in London.
Established in 1897, this was at the initiative of James McNeill Whistler, however, presented a year later to the public. Whistler was President and Auguste Rodin, with the death of Whistler 1903 Rodin in 1904 was elected as the new President and Vice President to John Lavery.
The first exhibition was held in Knightsbridge, London at Prince 's Skating Club, the works shown were from artists from the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Germany, France and the United States. Noteworthy at that time was also the participation of women.
During World War II German and Austrian members were suspended. The once successful artist association lost in the 1920s, an important and was dissolved in 1925.
