International Union of Forest Research Organizations

The International Union of Forest Research Organizations, IUFRO short (of English. International Union of Forest Research Organizations) is a global network for cooperation in the field of forestry. The Association unites more than 15,000 scientists in more than 700 member organizations in more than 110 countries. Been founded was the International Union of Forest Research Institutes at the initiative of the Prussian Forest Research Station, 1892 in Eberswalde. The IUFRO is a member of the international umbrella organization of scientific societies and academies of ICSU. The collaboration of scientists in IUFRO is based on a purely voluntary basis.

IUFRO task is to promote the coordination and international cooperation of scientific studies in the whole subject of forest, trees and sustainable use of forests. Annually organized by the IUFRO an annual conference in varying countries.
