The International Wooden Shoe Museum in Eelde Eelde (Netherlands) is a museum of wooden shoes, wooden shoe tool and wooden shoe machines. It has the largest collection of wooden footwear in the world.

History

The foundation of the collection was established by the brothers Eiso (1916-1977) and Egbert Wietzes (1925-1988), the last wooden shoe in Eelde. The collection was after her death, filled with the collection of HP Bongers from Enschede, who was a teacher there at a technical school. His collection was next to wooden shoes from Western European craftsmanship and machine ( pre-) Holzschuh tool. In 1990 the museum was opened. 2009 acquired a large collection of French clogs the museum.

Collection

In the museum, guided tours are offered, and there are regularly organized thematic exhibitions.
