Internet Initiative Japan

Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ, Japanese株式会社 インターネット イニシアティブ, Kabushiki - gaisha Intānetto Inishiatibu ) is a Japanese ISP. In 1993, the company offered the first commercial Internet in Japan and was the first Japanese ISP. The shares of IIJ is traded on the NASDAQ, IIJI with the ticker symbol.

IIJ offers its services primarily business customers, but there are for residential customers the deals IIJ4U and IIJmio.

Shareholder

After problems with the associate Cross Wave Communications and its subsidiaries IIJ performed a capital increase, which allowed NTT to increase its own share of IIJ to around 30%.

History

The company was founded on December 3, 1992 as the KK Internet Initiative Kikaku (株式会社 インターネット イニシアティブ 企画, Kabushiki - gaisha Intānetto Inishiatibu Kikaku, dt " Internet Initiative Plan" ). In May 1993, it was renamed K. K. Internet Initiative, or engl. Internet Initiative Japan. In July launched the UUCP and in November, the Internet connection service. In February 1994, Internet Initiative Japan was as a Type II providers under the Telecommunications Enterprise Act of 1984 (电 気 通信 事业 法, denki Tsushin jigyōhō ) registered. On 1 February 1998, Internet Initiative Japan merged with several companies in the AAJ group. On 4 August 1999, the IPO took place on NASDAQ.

It was planned, the stock from June 23, in 2005 at the Mothers, a Tokyo stock market for venture businesses to act, however, IIJ could not meet the necessary standards for listing. Only when the second application on 9 November 2005, the company received the necessary approval and listed since December 2 there.
