Interstate 39

Interstate 39 (abbreviated I-39 ) is an Interstate Highway in the Midwestern United States. It begins near Normal, Illinois at Interstate 55 and ends at Rothschild in Wisconsin at the Wisconsin State Route 29 six miles south of Wausau.

The I-39 is in much of a spacious bypass route around Chicago, which was built in the 1980s and 1990s. For large parts of Wisconsin's Interstate also having to cross without the Greater Chicago serves as an important link to the southern cities such as Cincinnati, Louisville and Indianapolis.

Course

Illinois

In Illinois Interstate 39 begins at Interstate 55 north of normal, and then runs along the Illinois State Route 251 north. In the city of Cherry Valley near Rockford, the road meets Interstate 90 and then performs on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway to the Wisconsin border.

Wisconsin

After two miles down the I-39 meets east of Beloit on Interstate 43 between Madison and Portage shares the Interstate 39 the course with Interstate 94 after about 100 additional miles up the I-39 ends at U.S. Highway 51 and the Wisconsin State Route 29 near Rothschild.
