Interstate (typeface)

Interstate or the FHWA Series fonts is a sans serif font. The FHWA Series fonts was developed for the Department of Transportation of the United States. The font is used in particular for local, highway, railway and other official signs. Because the font was used in particular for signs on the so-called interstate highways, the font under the name Interstate was familiar. The typographer Tobias Frere -Jones has designed a version of the font under the name Interstate for the use of advertising, publishing and printing.

History and Use
