Interventional pain management

Interventional pain management is a specialty of pain management. Focuses on local injection techniques, minimally invasive, percutaneous ( through the skin ) and microsurgical treatment techniques through continuous radiological imaging ( computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging MRI and digital fluoroscopy ) allows treatment of pain generators.

The Interventional Pain therapy is used in the treatment of pain as a therapy method - especially in pain emanating from the spine. If the patient despite therapies such as pain medication, injections, acupuncture and physiotherapy or after successful surgery suffer from severe pain, they can be supplied in outpatient facilities of an interventional pain management. Through the use of pharmaceuticals, the interventional pain management, avoid complications and minimize. Supposedly operations can be delayed or prevented with patient treatment by interventional and microsurgical procedures.

Outpatient treatment concepts for the spine and joints are:

  • Injections in the facet joints ( facet joints ) of the spine, known as peri -articular therapy
  • Injections to the nerve roots of the spinal canal, called peri- radicular therapy ( PRT) or, as referred to in the spinal cord canal epidural injection
  • Thermal obliteration / denervation of the nerves supplying the facet joints, so-called thermocoagulation
  • Disc therapies by the injection of pharmaceuticals into the disc
  • Disc surgery / decompression by percutaneous ( through the skin) minimally invasive procedures, with different treatment techniques, such as Application of medical lasers ( PLDD Percutaneous laser disc decompression )
  • Cement stabilization of fractured vertebral bodies by injections of medical bone cement into the vertebral body through porous osteoporosis -related wear or bony tumors, so-called vertebroplasty / kyphoplasty
  • Treatments for bone tumors by radiofrequency thermal ablation (RFA )
  • Injections into joints, with pharmaceuticals from orthomolecular Orthopedics
  • Injections for stubborn muscle tension, with botulinum toxin ( Botox)
