Ioannis Gounaris

Ioannis Gounaris (Greek Γιάννης Γούναρης, born July 6, 1952) is a former Greek football player.

Playing career

Gounaris began his career at the Greek fourth division Makedonikos Neapolis FC. In 1971 he moved to his first professional club PAOK Thessaloniki. In Thessaloniki Gounaris won a league title twice and the Greek Cup. In 1983 he went to Olympiakos Piraeus for two years. However, in the port city, he could not win a title. He finished his career in 1985.

Internationally, he played 27 times for Greece. Gounaris played in the European Football Championship 1980 in Italy, where it was used once.

After playing career

Gounaris took over in 1989 for a game as interim coach Olympiakos Piraeus. Other clubs as trainers were Niki Volos, PAS Ioannina, Pathrakikos FC and FC Lemia.
