Iochroma lehmannii

Iochroma lehmannii is a species of the genus of shrubs violets ( Iochroma ) in the nightshade family (Solanaceae ).

Description

Iochroma lehmannii is a small tree that is 4 to 10 feet high. Its young branches are slightly purple and covered with triangular scales. The leaves are elliptic to lanceolate, 4 to 18.5 inches long and 2.5 to 10 inches wide.

The inflorescences consist of two to six flowers. The calyx is 5-7 mm long and not inflated. The yellow- green crown is funnel-shaped to bell-shaped, 2 to 3.5 inches long. Copies of Iochroma lehmannii were collected mainly in the south of Ecuador and adjacent Peru. The IUCN classifies this species as a vulnerable (endangered ), but recommends a review of this status.
