Use

Iodoacetamide is used as an alkylating agent for cysteine ​​residues in peptide sequencing. By reaction with cysteine ​​, it is an irreversible inhibitor of enzymes with cysteine ​​as the active compound. Iodoacetamide reacts much slower with histidines, but this reaction is responsible for the inhibition of ribonuclease.
