Monoiodsilan is a chemical compound from the group of silanes.
Production and representation
Monoiodsilan can be obtained by reaction of Phenylsilane or Chlorphenylsilan with hydrogen iodide.
It is also formed as a byproduct in the production of monosilane and silicon tetraiodide of hydrogen iodide at 80 ° C and elevated pressure in the presence of aluminum (III ) chloride as a catalyst. This method can also be used for the production of methylated Iodsilane.
Properties
Monoiodsilan is a colorless, strongly fuming liquid to air, which decomposes on contact ml of water. It has in the solid state a monoclinic crystal structure with space group P21 / c
