Ion Alecsandrescu

Ion " Sfinxul " Alecsandrescu ( born July 17, 1928 in Copaceni, Vâlcea county, † 21 June 2000) was a Romanian football player and functionary. He played a total of 197 games in the highest Romanian league, the Divizia A.

Career as a player

Alecsandrescu began his career at Juventus Bucharest ( since 1949 under the name Partizanul Bucharest). There he came on 25 May 1950, its first use in Divizia A. Since Alecsandrescu scored eight goals in his first six games, caught up with him shortly after the Romanian giants CCA Bucharest (today's Steaua Bucharest).

With CCA Bucharest Alecsandrescu was able to 1951, the Romanian championship, but was rarely used. He therefore moved to the beginning climber CA Câmpulung Moldovenesc. After this was able to finish the 1952 season in third place and at halftime of the season in 1953 was on the first place, the club was disbanded, and delegates the majority of players to CCA Bucharest.

After his return Alecsandrescu came at CCA used more often and were team regular. His definitive breakthrough as a striker succeeded in 1956, when he was able to not only win the Romanian championship, but win the top scorer. The following European Champions Cup CCA difference despite a goal from Alecsandresu from the playoff against the German champions Borussia Dortmund.

As Alecsandrescu in the 1961/62 season no longer regularly came into use, he moved to the winter break to Bucharest Olympics and finished his career there in 1962.

National

Alecsandrescu played five games for the Romanian national football team, but was able to achieve no results. He made his debut on April 22, 1956 against Yugoslavia.

Career as a functionary

After the end of his active career Alecsandrescu became Secretary General of the Romanian Football Federation. He held until 1982 when he became vice president of his former club Steaua Bucharest this post. This office he held until his death in 2000.
