Iota Carinae

Turai ( Tureis ) is the name of the star ι Carinae ( Iota Carinae ) in the constellation keel of the ship. Other names are scutulum or Aspidiske. Both Turai (Arabic تريس ) and scutulum (Latin ) means " small sign ".

Turai belongs to the spectral class F0 ( Morgan - Keenan A81b ) and has an apparent magnitude of 2.25 m. It is about 800 light years away and has a 6,800 times more luminous than our Sun.
