IP tunnel

IP -to- IP encapsulation (IP in IP encapsulation, RFC 1853) or tunneling refers to the routing method for Mobile IP applications. The to a specific host of the home network ( Home Agent ) are packed transmitted IP packets as user data of another IP packet which contains the secondary IP address of the mobile host in the header. The incoming with the home agent IP packets are therefore not read but only again provided with another header and then sent to the network in which the mobile host is currently located. In this case, the encapsulated IP packet either directly to the mobile host ( Co Located care-of address ) or sent to the foreign agent of the host network ( foreign agent care-of address).
