Ira E. Rider

Ira Edgar Rider ( born November 17 1868 in Jersey City, New Jersey, † May 29, 1906 in New York City ) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1903 and 1905 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Ira Edgar Rider was born about three years after the end of the civil war in Jersey City. He attended public schools and the College of the City of New York (now New York University). Then he graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton. He studied law. After receiving his license to practice law, he began to practice in New York City. Between 1898 and 1902 he was Secretary of the President of the Borough of Manhattan. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1902 for the 58th Congress Rider was in the 14th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of William H. Douglas on March 4, 1903. Due to a disease he resigned in 1904 to run again and was eliminated after March 3, 1905 from the Congress of.

After his conference time he went back to his work as a lawyer after. On May 29, 1906, he died in New York City and was then buried in the Calvary Cemetery.
